The Boxcar Children - Set of the original 19 books
by Gertrude Chandler Warner ... $30.00 (Plus #20 & #21. This
is a set of softcover books which sets down into a cardboard
railroad car box. Books are not ex-library. I didn't see any writing in
them, book #1 has creases to the cover, a few books have some little dogears,
there are some other minor flaws, light soil to tops of books -- overall,
this is a clean set of good reading copies. Box has light wear about the
edges. ... Gertrude Chandler Warner wrote the first 19 books in the series.
All books after that were written by other authors. Because we have books
#20 and 21 on hand, we have slipped them into the box as well. I would say
there is room for two more books to fit in this box comfortably.)

Volumes 1-98 ... $300.00 (This is a $21,070.00 set of books.
No kidding! The books are sold primarily to libraries and they are still
in print for $215 each. The publisher is Thomson
Gale out of Toledo. Amazon
sells new copies for $215 each . It's a fabulous reference for anyone interested
in children's literature - children and adults. I love the discussions of
wonderful old children's books as well as modern-day authors and titles.

"This illustrated series covers more than 600 writers and illustrators
for children and young adults, including such notable figures as Louisa
May Alcott, Judy Blume, A. A. Milne, Walter Dean Myers and Maurice Sendak.
... Typical entries consist of a listing of major works and awards and criticism
from significant reviews and commentaries on the author's or artist's works.
Each volume includes cumulative author name and nationality indexes as well
as a
volume-specific title index. A cumulative title index to the entire series
is published separately."
We have a separate title index that covers volumes 1-93. This is an ex-library
reference set and is clean and in very good condition. Most of the volumes
are like new. The only flaw to note is that volume 2 was apparently dropped
and the front hinge cracked; this could easily be taped. They take up space
and they are heavy ... but they are a very nice resource. -- Be prepared
for approx. $100 in shipping costs as there will be multiple heavy boxes.

case that holds the tapes has a bit of wear to the corners and the top edge,

Wordcraft - A Kid's Word Power Program ... $60.00
(This Nightingale-Conant program is from 1969 and is noted as a First Edition.
There are seven cassette tapes and three softcover manuals. The manuals
contain the study guides, recording scripts, tests, pronunciation keys,
bookmarks, and indexes. The case has some outer wear, but all contents are
clean and in good condition. The manuals don't have any writing in them.
A nice vocabulary program for kids! "Wordcraft is a multi-media approach
to rapid vocabulary building. It has been developed to teach a group of
carefully selected words in as interesting and effective way as possible.
These words are essential to a good vocabulary. They are frequently encountered,
but are often misunderstood." A scarce item.)

program for National Dynamics - which is now a Language Store selling tapes
and cd's for learning another language. This set, however, teaches reading.

Suzanne Somers Weight Loss Program - Somersizing:
Let me start off by saying that I am a Somersizer! I love this way of eating.
From May of 2007 to the end of September 2007, I lost 65 pounds. ... Last
April I had a couple of odd spells and I was pretty sure it was from high
blood pressure. I was actually frightened, and with no health insurance,
I simply decided to take matters into my own hands. I didn't start off Somersizing
- I went cold turkey off of sugar, added salt, caffeine, fast food, and
junk food - all the things that I knew were making me sick and miserable.
After about two weeks, I switched over to Somersizing and have been eating
this way ever since. Around Thanksgiving I had some things that I wouldn't
normally eat, and here at Christmas I've had a few things that aren't part
of my diet, but I'm watching what I eat and have only fluctuated about three
pounds at most. ... Here are the very basics about the program: It is food
combining. You eat fats/proteins together. You eat carbs by themselves.
You eat fruit by itself. You wait three hours between food types. It's really
very easy.
I started out by reading a few of her books. Then I purchased a kit with
helpful items. And I'll be honest, I *know* about weight loss. I was a national
training director for a large weight loss company for many years. But *knowing*
about weight loss and actually losing weight are two completely different
things. I've wanted to lose weight for a long time and simply couldn't get
started or keep going. The blood pressure fright jump-started the process
for me, and once I got going, it was very easy to eat this way. And when
you eat this way, hunger is not an issue.
